9th blog

This week's blog is about responsibility. What are the results of being responsible/irresponsible? How can you change your habits or the habits of others when it comes to being responsible?

There are many different results for being responsible or irresponsible. Being responsible will get you get along in life a lot easier. Being irresponsible will have people not trust you and not be able to count on you. When your responsible people do not have to worry as much because they know that you will do the right thing.
People can change their habits to become responsble in many different ways. People can just not get im trouble as much. Or, they can show that they know how to help people and do that. They can also be resectful and nice. If you are not a respectful person then you will not have any respect back and then they will not see you as respondible
People can also be responsible by doing all their work and getting good grades. If you get good grades then the teacher will see that you care and want to do good. When they know that then they will know that you are a responsible person. So, these are some things to be responsible.

Anything I want to type =]

The kids in the MP and Mr. Falls room are actually very good kids. They just do not apply themselves. They like to fool around and just want to have a good time instead of doing their work. I try to help them out a lot. The kids most of the time just want the answers instead of help.

I do not just give out the answers. I help them out and make then listen until they understand fully. Mr Falls class is very loud and obnoxious. Alton and I try to quiet them down, but they do not listen most of the time. Some care and ask for help. But, then others just lay back and do nothing because they think that it is not important.

So, I feel us Link Crew students being in the class do help out a lot. I am going to help out a lot more and as much as I can to make them realize that school is not just a joke. Their grades do mean a lot more then they think.

BLOG 7

Todays' blog should reflect your mentoring experiences. How have YOU made a difference in someone's life?

The kids in mentoring are mostly there just because they do not try. I try to help the kids that need it. Many do ask questions. Many of them also just want to get out of the room so they can go back to their lunch. I feel that I have helped out a lot. Some ways is just sitting down and helping. Other ways is just telling them that their grades do mean a lot and they should not just mess around. Other things I do is just tell them do get their work done a lot until they get annoyed and they actually do it.

Happy Valentines Day!This week we are dealing with conflict. Please respond in your blog to the following: Faced with opposition, is it your tendency to adapt and do what you've got to do to move forward, or do you let opposition stifle and deter you? What examples from your past best represent your ability to overcome adversity?

There are many things that I have went through in my lifetime. I went through some things and did the right things and wrong things dealing with conflict. In some ways I tend to let the things bothering me build up. Then with the others that do not really bother me I just ignore it and move on.
If someone doesn't like me I do not really care. It's not a loss for me because I have other friends. But, when people talk about me or my other friends I let it bulid up until I just get really mad an explode.
I have gotten better tho. I do not get as mad anymore. I have matured and started to be able to either ignore or talk out my problems.

Link Crew, high school transition programs, tutoring services, how does this all help the Freshmen students based on your experiences during the last 5 weeks. What has been frustrating for you? What has been rewarding? Remember you need to have 3-5 paragraphs in order to earn full credit.

There are many things that are going good and going bad in this class with all the freshmen. Some freshmen really do want the help and want to learn. These are the ones that I tend to put more effort in because they are the ones trying. That is going to be something that I will have to change. Because the kids that aren't trying also need to have better learning abilities also.

The freshmen that do not try and still just sit there are the ones who get frustrating. I just tend to let them do what they want. This is because they are not going to listen anyway. But, in the begining I do still try and help them out with what they need to get done. The kids are so stubbern and thinking that they are cool. Thats what makes me mad. Because I have passed that grade, and I know what is needed. But they do not like to listen to what I have to say.

Some things that have been good is when i'm able to help the freshmen out. I like when they ask me questions to help them. Or, when I tell them to start doing their work and they listen to me. That is how it should be. This is because then I feel like im doing the right thing. Also getting the right things done.

Us Link Crew students help out so much. We care more then any other regular student would.

Improving Self Esteem

How can improving self esteem help in school? How are you going to try to stay postivie to help the kids?

Improving self esteem can help out a lot in school. It can make the school seem to have a better environment. The students self esteem is a major part in school. If a student has a bad self esteem, then it makes it a lot harder to get the student to want to get good grades. Freshmen feel that they can just slack off and not do any work. But, what we are going to do is make it that they have to do their work. I will show them that their work is so much more then 'just a grade.'
To make the kids stay positive, there are a couple things that I will have to do. One thing is, telling them that their grades in their freshman year will affect them their upcoming years. Another thing, is tell them if they have good grades they will be successful in life. But, if they dont get good grades, they will end up not being as successful as they would be with good grades. Another thing is that I will show them that I do care. I will help them out as much as possible. I will encourage them that they will do good if they try.

Self Esteem

Twelve steps for improving your self esteem
Forgive your past mistakes
Improve your personal relationships
Accentuate your positives
Practice your talents
Emulate successful people
Become physically fit
Become a self-talker
Learn new things
Exhibit a good attitude
Hone your work skills
Get plenty of rest
Dress well

With the way I am I have forgave many things that I have done in the past. I’ve changed in many different ways when I moved from New Jersey to Florida. I have a positive attitude with many things. I do improve me personal relationships. I tend to not be a follower anymore. Where I used to live I didn’t do such good things because of the people I hung out with. But, now it does not matter who I hang out with or what they do, because I make the decisions I want to make and I do not care about what anyone else thinks. I am always learning new things. That is something I like to do and will do until I can not learn anymore. I dress well, and always will dress well. It is just something I have to do.
Something that I may have to change is getting plenty of rest. I’m always busy and I try to do as much as I can possible in one day.
